The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Graduate Analyst Programme — commonly referred to as GAP — is a structured entry-level initiative designed specifically for outstanding Nigerian graduates who want to break into strategy consulting without prior industry experience. It is BCG Lagos’s primary pipeline for young local talent.
Unlike a typical graduate scheme, GAP places analysts directly on live client engagements from day one. You will not spend months in a classroom before you see real work. BCG GAP 2026 eligibility requirements
BCG sets a high but clear bar. Before you apply, confirm that you meet all of the following criteria:
- Excellent academic results from an accredited Nigerian university — a Second Class Upper (2:1) degree or higher is the stated minimum.
- Your bachelor’s degree must have been completed within the last two and a half years of your application date.
- You should have completed your NYSC, or be about to be called up for service.
- Strong extra-curricular activities, leadership roles, or awards that demonstrate tangible impact — not just membership in clubs.
Note on re-applications: If you have applied before and were unsuccessful at any stage, you must wait at least 12 months from the date your feedback was communicated before submitting a new application.
How the 2026 application process works
There are five stages. Each stage acts as a filter, so preparation at every step matters.
01. Online application
Submit your CV, O/A-level certificates, and all university transcripts. Select Lagos as first office preference and “Business Analyst” as the role.
02. Online case experience
A timed digital assessment testing quantitative skills, data interpretation, calculation speed, and business logic.
03. Round 1 interviews
Two case interviews of 45 minutes each. You will receive feedback after this round regardless of outcome.
04. Round 2 interviews
Two case interviews of 60 minutes each with senior consulting staff. The questions are more complex and the bar is higher.
05. Offer
If successful, BCG will extend an offer and work with you to agree a start date. Interviews are conducted virtually unless stated otherwise.

1. Entry level: Graduate Analyst (GAP) This guide
- Recent graduates, 0–2 years out of university
2. Mid-career: Associate / Senior Associate
- 3+ yrs (Associate) or 5+ yrs (Senior Associate) relevant experience. Masters or PhD preferred.
3. Senior: Consultant
- 6+ years in consulting, advisory or industry. MBA from top institution preferred but not required.
4. Leadership: Project Leader
- 12+ years consulting experience, 3+ years at team lead or managerial level.
How to prepare for the BCG online case experience
- The online case experience is the first meaningful filter in the process. It tests how quickly and accurately you can interpret business data, perform calculations, and reason through market sizing or operational problems under time pressure.
- BCG’s own candidate resources are the best starting point. Beyond that, practice with publicly available case materials from BCG and peer firms. Focus on mental maths, percentage calculations, chart reading, and structured problem decomposition. Timed practice matters more than passive reading — simulate the actual time pressure from your first session.
- For the case interviews in rounds one and two, BCG uses its own case format. The BCG interview preparation page includes practice cases and guidance written specifically for candidates. Use it. Candidates who skip this resource consistently underperform those who engage with it systematically.
Practical tips specific to the GAP application
A few details that catch candidates out every year:
- Your CGPA matters, but your extra-curricular record matters almost as much. Quantify your impact — “led a team of 12” or “raised NGN 2 million” is more compelling than “organised events.”
- Submit all transcripts — not just your final degree certificate. BCG asks for O/A-level results as well as university transcripts. Missing documents stall or sink applications.
- Tailor your CV to demonstrate analytical thinking and problem solving, not just role responsibilities.
- BCG conducts all interviews virtually by default. Prepare your environment: stable internet, a quiet room, and a professional background before your scheduled slot.
- Applying to multiple offices in the same cycle can work against you. Select Lagos deliberately and commit to it as your first choice.
