Overview
- The Auto Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Working within the automotive department, the mechanic uses technical expertise, diagnostic tools, and manufacturer specifications to deliver high-quality repair and maintenance services.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake service, and fluid checks
- Diagnose problems using computerized diagnostic equipment and manual testing methods
- Repair or replace defective parts, including engines, transmissions, suspension systems, steering systems, and exhaust components
- Test vehicles after repairs to ensure proper operation and safety standards are met
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, and labor performed
