As part of the application process, candidates are required to outline a specific challenge or issue within their country that they aim to tackle, and articulate their plan for making a positive impact. Additionally, applicants must detail how their proposed course of study will enable them to effectively address the challenge, outline the skills they anticipate gaining from the scholarship, and elucidate their strategy for applying and sharing the knowledge and abilities they acquire within their local community and/or the broader Commonwealth upon their return home. Applicants must also identify which UN Sustainable Development Goals align with their field of study, explain why, and explain how their proposed study will contribute to achieving these goals.

    Statement 3 requires a 200-400 word essay on creating networks. Applicants are expected to detail the methods by which they have developed professional networks, which may include activities such as academic studies, hobbies, work experience, volunteering, and engagement in social, cultural, or Commonwealth organizations. They must also describe how they have used their networks and connections to achieve something and what they have achieved. Finally, applicants must explain how they plan to further develop their connections during their international study experience.
