About Standard Bank Africa Chairman’s Scholarships
The London School of Economics (LSE) has officially announced the availability of three Standard Bank Africa Chairman’s Scholarships for the 2023/24 academic session. These scholarships are made possible through the generous funding provided by Standard Bank Group, with the aim of supporting intellectually outstanding students who lack the financial resources to pursue advanced studies of this caliber. To be considered for the scholarship, prospective candidates must exhibit a remarkable academic record and demonstrate significant financial need.

Scholarship Benefits
The scholarships will cover:
- Full cost of tuition fees.
- Maintenance stipend of £21,000 to cover living expenses.
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
These scholarships are applicable to:
1. Prospective students who have received an offer for any of the following master’s programs offered by LSE:
- MSc in Accounting and Finance
- MSc in Data Science
- MSc in Behavioural Science
- MSc in Economics and Management
- MSc in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- MSc in Environment and Development
- MSc in Urbanisation and Development
- MSc in Economics and Philosophy
- MSc in Environmental Economics and Climate Change
- MSc in Financial Mathematics
- MSc in Finance and Private Equity
- MSc in Finance (full-time)
- MSc in Local Economic Development
- MSc in Global Health Policy
- MSc in Management Information Systems and Digital Innovation
- MSc in Management and Strategy
- MSc in Risk and Finance
- MSc in Real Estate Economics and Finance
2. Prospective candidates who are eligible for the scholarships must either be citizens or residents of one of Standard Bank’s African operating nations.
Method of Application
In order to be considered for this scholarship as well as other LSE scholarships that share the same application process, you must have completed the following:
- Applied for admission to study at LSE by following the instructions on “How to apply“.
- Submitted the LSE Graduate Financial Support Application, which includes a Personal Statement in Section G. This application can be accessed through the Graduate Application Tracker.
- Received an offer of admission from LSE, either conditionally or unconditionally.

Required Documents
To apply for admission to the London School of Economics (LSE), you must have the following documents ready:
- Application form obtained from the university website
- Application assessment fee
- Two academic references
- Transcripts/mark sheets, and proof of existing qualifications
- Statement of academic purpose
- CV
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test and Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT)
- Research proposal
- Sample of written work
- English test scores
- Miscellaneous supporting documents
