About NWAG Undergraduate Scholarship for Female Students in Nigeria
The Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG) is a non-profit organization founded by Nigerian women residing in the state of Georgia in the United States. The association aims to empower and promote the welfare of Nigerian women and children, as well as support charitable causes in Nigeria and the United States.
NWAG provides various programs and initiatives, such as educational scholarships, health and wellness programs, mentorship programs, and community outreach events. The organization also promotes cultural exchange between Nigeria and the United States through various cultural events and activities.
NWAG has devised a plan to grant 74 individual scholarships – one for each state of origin, including an additional scholarship for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Scholarship Benefits
The recipients of the 2023 Scholarship Award in Nigerian universities will receive a sum of Three Hundred U.S. Dollars ($300), while each 1st runner up will receive One Hundred and Fifty U.S. Dollars ($150). The scholarship awards will be given in the equivalent Naira value.
Required Documents
The following documents are needed to apply for the scholarship:
- You must provide proof of your State of Origin, which can be a Letter of Origination from your university or a letter from your local government office.
- You need to provide two letters of recommendation from any two of the following:
- Pastor or Imam
- Village Head
- Local Government Chairperson
- University Lecturer or Head of the Department.
- You also need to obtain one letter of recommendation from either the Dean of your Faculty or the Head of your Department at your school.
- Photocopy of your current university student identification.
- A current photograph of yourself.
- You must provide a brief, typed explanation of not more than half a page as to why you require the scholarship and why you are a suitable candidate to receive it.
- A type-written, double-spaced, two-page essay on “Curbing kidnapping epidemic in Nigeria: How did we get there? In what ways can kidnapping be eradicated in Nigeria?”
Important: Make sure that when submitting your email, you include the name of your state and your full name in the subject line.
