1. Job Title: Third Officer

• REF: NSH/3O/2024/02/001
• Job Grade: Shipboard Officer
• Location: ONBOARD
• Contract Type: Voyage Contract
• Deadline: 14th August, 2024

The Job

• To provide assistance to the deck team onboard the ship and carryout all duties as prescribed by the master.

The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
The Person:

• The Third Officer understudies and assists the Second Officer. He/She must keep a navigational watch.
• During cargo operations, he/she will assist with cargo operations, stability, ballast operations, moorings and ship security during the period of his watch.
• He/She is responsible for the safety of all personnel working for him.
• He/She is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all deck portable firefighting equipment and lifesaving appliances.
• He/She is responsible to the Master for the completion of records of on -board training.
• Where required shall act as nominated officer for the GMDSS station with responsibility for associated tests and records.
• He/She is responsible for the upkeep of the Recreational and Technical library.
• The Third Officer must carry out any lawful command and delegated duty as issued by the Master.

Requirements

The right candidate should:

• Be a Nigerian seafarer
• Have a minimum of three months experience on a Gas Tanker, preferably LNG tanker
• Have a minimum of OOW Deck Certificate of Competency issued by the any of the below named Maritime agencies/authorities
  • Algeria, Georgia, Netherlands, Argentina, Germany, New Zealand, Australia
    Norway, Azerbaijan, Greece, Oman, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Belgium,
    Hungary, Peru, Brazil, Iceland, Philippines, Bulgaria, India, Poland, Canada,
    Indonesia, Portugal, Cape Verde, Iran, Romania, Chile, Ireland, Italy, Senegal,
    Croatia, Jamaica, Serbia, Cuba, Japan, Singapore, Cyprus, Jordan, Slovenia, Czech
    Republic Korea, Republic of South Africa, Denmark, Latvia, Spain, Ecuador,
    Lithuania, Sri Lanka , Madagascar ,Sweden, Estonia, Malaysia, Tunisia, Ethiopia,
    Malta, Turkey, Faroe Islands, Mexico Ukraine, Fiji Montenegro Uruguay Finland
    Morocco USA France Myanmar Vietnam
• Be 18 years of age or above.

• Seaman’s Discharge Book
• STCW Mandatories (PSSR, PST, Fire Fighting and Prevention)

The Job

• To provide assistance to the engine room team onboard the ship and carryout all duties as prescribed by the Chief Engineer.

The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

• He/She must understudy the Second and Third Engineer Officers. He/She must keep an Engine Room watch.
• He/She is responsible for the safety of all personnel working under his/her supervision
• He/She is responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the Engine Room safety equipment as directed by the Second Engineer
• The Fourth Engineer Officer must keep an engine room watch, or, on UMS ships, must act as duty engineer in rotation
• The Fourth Engineer must carry out any lawful command and delegated duty as issued by the Chief Engineer and/or the Master.

Requirements

The right candidate should:

• Be a Nigerian seafarer
• Have a minimum of three months experience on Gas Tanker
• Have a minimum of OOW Engineering Certificate of Competency (Steam & Motor) issued by the any of the below named Maritime agencies/authorities:
