American Tomorrow Leaders Scholarship Program 2026

The American Tomorrow Leaders Scholarship Program, also known as the Tomorrow’s Leaders Program (TLP), is a major education and leadership initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of State through the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).

Its goal is to give talented students from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region the chance to pursue higher education through fully funded scholarships. To qualify for the Tomorrow Leaders Program, applicants must meet certain criteria:

Citizenship and Residency:

Applicants must be citizens of one of the following MENA countries:
Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank/Gaza, or Yemen.

U.S. citizens and U.S. legal permanent residents are not eligible.

Undergraduate Requirements:

  • Be a current high school senior or a recent graduate (class of 2025).
  • In some countries (Iraq, Libya, Syria, West Bank/Gaza, and Yemen), 2024 graduates are also eligible.
  • Have a strong academic record (usually at least 80% or equivalent).
  • Take the program’s required online English assessment provided through Arizona State University.
  • Be ready to begin studies in August 2026.
  • Show clear financial need and leadership potential.

Graduate Track

At this time, the graduate-level program is not accepting new applicants. When open in the future, candidates will need to meet the English and academic requirements of the host universities.

Additional Conditions

Applicants must be willing to study at one of the partner universities — typically the American University of Beirut (AUB), American University in Cairo (AUC), or Lebanese American University (LAU) — based on final selection.

  • Social responsibility or community engagement essay (about 500 words)
