Key Responsibilities

You will support the Logistics Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing import and logistics operations, with a focus on regulatory compliance, cost efficiency, and timely shipment delivery.

  • Manage end-to-end import logistics operations, ensuring timely shipment clearance and delivery while maintaining agreed lead times.
  • Maintain accurate import documentation and compliance with requirements including Form M, PAAR, and SONCAP.
  • Resolve operational issues such as clearance bottlenecks, manifest errors, shipment discrepancies, and documentation gaps.
  • Coordinate activities across Asset Maintenance, Warehouse, Finance, suppliers, freight forwarders, customs agents, and regulatory bodies.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements that strengthen turnaround time, accuracy, cost efficiency, and reliability.
  • Maintain reliable freight portal data, communicate structured updates, escalate risks, and recommend solutions that minimize business impact.
  • Monitor changes in import laws and regulations and ensure compliance with relevant international, national, and local requirements, including Maersk guidelines on third-party management.

Success in this role will be reflected through clearance and delivery lead-time adherence, documentation accuracy, compliance, fewer operational delays, cost optimization, stakeholder satisfaction, and contributions to process improvement.

  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Bring at least five years of experience in import or logistics operations.
  • Demonstrate strong working knowledge of Nigerian import regulations and systems, including NCS, SON, and NSW.
  • Apply sound judgement when managing shipment delays, regulatory requirements, documentation risks, and operational uncertainties.
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams and external stakeholders while providing timely updates and practical solutions.
  • Take initiative, coordinate cross-functional activities, and resolve complex logistics matters without requiring constant supervision.
