Roles & Responsibilities
We are expanding our actuarial team due to the need we have seen in the market, with the main areas of focus on the key core actuarial activities of reserving; pricing; risk and capital management as well as a myriad of other areas in financial services such as:
- Assignments in pricing and product development
- Risk and capital modelling, optimization and management
- Valuation of liabilities under IFRS/GAAP/Risk Based Capital regimes
- IFRS 17 implementation support
- Risk based capital template
- MCEV calculations and review
- Internal actuarial function roles
- Developing and optimising reinsurance mechanisms
- Predictive modelling and visualisation
- Insurance Liability Valuations
- Valuations and advice related to pension and employee benefits matters
- Assisting in due diligence with respect to actuarial aspects
- Risk modelling and Stress testing
- You will be an integral part of the team based in West Africa, as well as those delivering actuarial services across a Global Network.
Requirements:
- Successfully passed at least 6 actuarial examinations with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), Society of Actuaries (SOA), or an equivalent internationally recognized actuarial body.
- Candidates who have attained Associate status (ASA, AIA, or equivalent) are strongly encouraged to apply and may be considered for a Director-level appointment, subject to experience and demonstrated leadership capability.
University degree:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Other relevant quantitative courses.
- Masters is an added advantage
Experience required:
- 6–10 years of relevant actuarial and consulting experience.
- Experience in insurance, consulting, financial services, or a related actuarial environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing actuarial models and communicating technical results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Technical competence in one or more core actuarial practice areas, including pricing, reserving, capital modelling, risk management, or actuarial valuations.
- Experience applying actuarial professional standards and the actuarial control cycle.
- Experience with programming and data analytics tools (e.g., R, Python, SQL, Power BI, VBA) is an added advantage.

- Certification(s) Required: CFA qualified and/or passed either ACA or ACCA Exam or the equivalent accounting or finance certification exam in the selected individual’s home country.
- Financial services Industry/ Capital Markets experience, some investment banking and advisory experience is beneficial.
Knowledge Preferred:
- Participate as an individual contributor and a team member with senior CMAAS practitioners & other professionals (e.g. bankers, lawyers, auditors, advisors) on complex financial reporting and regulatory matters related to deals & other transformational events daily in areas of focus listed above.
- This includes demonstrating an extensive knowledge of and/or a proven record of success in the following areas.
- Advising multi-national, publicly-traded companies & private equity firms on a broad range of financial reporting, & capital markets topics including:
- IPOs, debt offerings, private placements.
- Carve-outs and/or spin-offs; and
- Acquisitions, alliances/joint ventures, post deal matters.
