Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the QECS Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Hold an undergraduate degree at the time of admission.

• Be a citizen of a Commonwealth country.

• Note that each university may have its own specific eligibility requirements for admissions.

• There is no upper age restriction to apply for the QECS Scholarship.

Scholarship Requirements

The application form is sub-divided into sections, including:

• Eligibility

• Personal Details

• Academic and Employment Record

• Course details at the host university

• Statements 

• Option to upload supporting documents, such as references.

The Statement section comprises three main statements that applicants are required to submit, with specific instructions provided on the application form and below.

Statement 1 requires applicants to write a 200–400 word plan of study. It should answer why they have chosen to study the course, what features of the course interest them, why they want to undertake the course at the chosen institution and in the country, what research they have conducted on the university, how the course is relevant to their future career plans, and how their previous studies and experiences make them a suitable candidate for the course.

Statement 2 requires a 300-500 word essay on development impact and post-study outreach. As part of the application process, candidates are required to outline a specific challenge or issue within their country that they aim to tackle, and articulate their plan for making a positive impact. Additionally, applicants must detail how their proposed course of study will enable them to effectively address the challenge, outline the skills they anticipate gaining from the scholarship, and elucidate their strategy for applying and sharing the knowledge and abilities they acquire within their local community and/or the broader Commonwealth upon their return home. Applicants must also identify which UN Sustainable Development Goals align with their field of study, explain why, and explain how their proposed study will contribute to achieving these goals.

Statement 3 requires a 200-400 word essay on creating networks. Applicants are expected to detail the methods by which they have developed professional networks, which may include activities such as academic studies, hobbies, work experience, volunteering, and engagement in social, cultural, or Commonwealth organizations. They must also describe how they have used their networks and connections to achieve something and what they have achieved. Finally, applicants must explain how they plan to further develop their connections during their international study experience.
