Eligibility Requirements for Maastricht University NL High Potential Scholarship 2026
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Suriname.
- Meet the visa and residence permit requirements for the Netherlands.
- Not hold dual nationality with an EU/EEA country or Switzerland.
- Apply for a full-time participating Master’s program at Maastricht University.
- Meet the admission requirements of the chosen program.
- Not have previously studied for a degree in the Netherlands (exchange programs are allowed).
- Be 35 years old or younger on 1 September 2025.
- Have a strong academic record (GPA of 7.5/10 or equivalent).

- Letter of Motivation explaining why you deserve the scholarship.

How to Apply for Maastricht University NL High Potential Scholarship 2026
- Choose an eligible Master’s program at Maastricht University.
- Submit your admission application via Studielink (or the UM portal). Complete all admission requirements by the scholarship deadline.
- Once you receive a student ID, complete the scholarship application form before the deadline.
- Upload all required documents (CV, transcript, motivation letter, reference letter, and financial statement if needed).
- After the deadline, applications are checked for completeness.
- Faculties shortlist and rank the top 5% of applicants for final review.
- Shortlisted candidates are invited for an online interview.
