About AIG Scholarships
Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) Scholarships, launched in 2017, provide outstanding West African talents the chance to pursue a Master of Public Policy at Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government. These fully funded scholarships, totaling 29 and exceeding £50,000 each, empower future public sector leaders to gain knowledge at a top university. Afterward, scholars return home to drive policy improvements and national development.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the AIG Scholarship program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Nigerian Public Sector Employment: Applicants must presently hold positions in the public sector, including Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and Parastatals, either at the Federal or State level in Nigeria.
- Age Range: Candidates should fall within the age bracket of 25 to 45 years.
- Work Experience: Applicants must possess a minimum of seven years of combined work experience, encompassing both the private and public sectors.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree with at least a second-class upper qualification.
- Additional Note: For individuals with second-class upper qualifications, possessing a Master’s degree, second degree, or relevant professional qualification will be advantageous.
Key Notes
- Academic excellence and leadership potential are paramount in the selection process.
- Only shortlisted applicants proceeding to the next selection stage will receive communication. Individual application status inquiries are discouraged.
- Applications submitted by post or in person will not be accepted.
- Finalists chosen in the Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) selection process will be required to make a separate application to the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, for admission. Admission offers to the Master of Public Policy program will also influence the final selection of AIG Scholars.
