About the Embassy of France in Nigeria Scholarships for Master’s Degree Students

A new scholarship program is being launched by the Embassy of France in Nigeria, aimed at financing a Masters degree at a French university for the academic year 2023-2024. Individuals pursuing studies in the field of Computer Science are eligible to apply for one of the five grants that will be awarded. The scholarship is funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the French Ministry for Higher Education and Research, and will be administered by the French Embassy and Campus France Nigeria.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship program provides the following benefits:

• For scholars admitted in M1, the scholarship covers two academic years.

• For scholars admitted in M2, it covers one academic year. 

• Transportation expenses

• A monthly allowance

• Guidance in finding affordable student housing, and

• Healthcare coverage for the entire duration of the program.

However, tuition fees are the responsibility of the scholarship recipients and are not covered by the program.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Hold Nigerian nationality and be currently residing in Nigeria.

• Not more than 35 years of age.

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in science, engineering, or technology.

• Have completed National Service.

• Demonstrate full commitment to undertake a course of study in France during the academic year commencing in September/October 2023/2024.

• Proficiency in the French language is not a mandatory requirement for application.

Required Documents

To apply for the scholarship program, the following documents are required:

• A copy of the applicant’s international passport data page, which should be valid for at least two (2) years

• A detailed curriculum vitae (CV)

• A personal statement

• A copy of the Bachelor’s diploma or its equivalent

• An undergraduate transcript

• A recommendation letter from the applicant’s university (although not mandatory, it is highly recommended).
