The Slovak Republic’s National Scholarship Program for international students, Ph.D. students, university educators, researchers, and artists is currently accepting applications. The Slovakia Scholarship 2025, financially supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic, offers an excellent opportunity for international students to pursue master’s, doctoral, and other studies at Slovak higher education institutions.

Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship is for international students in Slovakia. The scholarships will cover the following expenses, such as:
- Free scholarships for international students to cover the living costs of international scholars
- Food, and accommodation during the stay.
- Travel allowance (airfare) for a student residence in Slovakia
- University student: € 350
- Ph.D. student: € 580
- University professor, researcher, artist: € 580
- Without a doctorate (or equivalent) and less than 4 years of professional experience as a professor/researcher/university artist: € 580
- with a doctorate (or equivalent) and less than 10 years of professional experience as a professor/researcher/university artist: € 850
- With a doctorate (or equivalent) and more than 10 years of professional experience as a professor/researcher/university artist: € 1,000
Eligibility Criteria
The 2025 Government Of Slovak Republic Scholarship is:
- Open to all international students worldwide, including those from universities outside Slovakia.
- Note that this scholarship does not cover full-time bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral programs.
Required Documents
Make sure to have the following documents ready before applying for the scholarship:
- Academic curriculum vitae or CV
- Statement of interest or motivation
- Study plan, research plan, or research proposal
- Two letters of recommendation
- Academic transcripts and certificates
- Admission letter or offer from a Slovakian institution
- Copy of passport
- Additional supporting documents, if applicable.
Scholarship Duration:
The 2025 Government Of Slovak Republic Scholarship is for:
- For students: 1 to 2 full semesters (equivalent to 4 to 5 or 9 to 10 months), or 1 to 3 full trimesters if the academic year is divided into trimesters (equivalent to 3 to 4, or 6 to 7 months).
- For Ph.D. students: 1 to 10 months.
- For university professors, researchers, or artists: 1 to 10 months.
Re-application:
- Applicants can re-apply for the scholarship only if at least 2 years have passed between the deadline for re-submitting the application and the deadline by which the NSP scholarship was last awarded and received.
- Exceptions may be made in cases of special circumstances, particularly if the previous scholarship-supported stay was impacted by force majeure (e.g., pandemic, military conflict, etc.).

Method of Application
- Scholarship applications are submitted online at www.scholarships.sk, with the online application system opening at least 6 weeks before the deadline.
- Applications can only be filled out in Slovak or English.
- Required documents must be attached to the online application for study stays for international students and for study/research/artistic stays for international Ph.D. students.
