Job Title: Senior Ops. & Maintenance Technician
Job Purpose:
The Instrument Technician is responsible for executing routine and complex maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of field instrumentation, control systems, and automation equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and optimizes operation of SNG facilities. The role requires strong hands-on expertise and delivers strong technical support across:
- Field Instrumentation Maintenance
- Process Automation, Control and Optimization Support
- Advanced Emerson DELTAV DCS Operations and Maintenance
- Engineering Workstation Support
- Reliability and Continuous Improvement
- Others
Key Responsibilities:
Goal Zero, HSE & E&C: Support the achievement of Goal Zero Targets: Zero Incidents, Accidents, Spills, Ethics & Compliance breaches. Conduct site visits and complete UA/UC reports and close out actions.
1. Maintenance Systems Management, Technical Assurance Support, Field Instrumentation Maintenance & Technical Support:
- Execute preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on field instrumentation —pressure/temperature/flow/level transmitters, switches, sensors, analyzers, and control valves etc.
- Perform calibration, loop testing/checks, functional tests, and configuration of instruments according to OEM standards.
- Troubleshoot complex instrument faults, signal failures, wiring issues and control loop abnormalities to restore equipment functionality.
- Ensure accurate update of maintenance activities, calibration records, and job close-out in the CMMS.
- Support instrument-related input into maintenance plans and job packs.
2. Process Automation & Control Support:
- Support stable and efficient process operations through proper control loop maintenance and tuning.
- Provide technical expertise and input during plant startups, shutdowns, process upset conditions, and process optimization.
- Assist in diagnosing automation-related issues affecting process performance (e.g., oscillations, trips, alarm floods).
- Execute advanced control logic adjustments or parameter changes.
- Implementation of automation improvements to enhance system performance, safety, and reliability.
3. DELTAV DCS Operations, Maintenance & Engineering Workstation Support:
- Operate and navigate DELTAV DCS systems for process monitoring, alarm management, and operational support.
- Conduct system health checks, troubleshoot workstation and controller issues, replace faulty hardware cards/modules, and restore system functions.
- Carry out backup/restore routines, download changes, and support advanced configuration updates on the engineering workstation.
- Assist with integration and commissioning of new instruments, skids, and packages into DELTAV.
- Ensure DELTAV documentation is updated following system changes.
4. Reliability & Continuous Improvement:
- Provide feedback on recurring failures and assist in basic root cause analysis (RCA) activities.
- Support reliability-focused reviews, loop audits, and failure investigations.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, improved system reliability, and enhanced maintenance effectiveness.
- Support execution of shutdowns, turnarounds, and reliability campaigns involving instrumentation.
- Ensure instrument tagging, documentation, and drawings are kept updated.
- Support Management of Change (MoC) processes by providing technical input and ensuring updates are implemented correctly.
OTHERS:
- Provide instrumentation support during project execution, commissioning, and handover.
- Participate in audits and close out actions assigned for instrumentation.
- Ensure compliance with all SNG procedures, standards, OEM guidelines, and HSE requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation—loop drawings, instrument indexes, wiring diagrams, and as-built updates.
- Support training, competence assessments, and knowledge transfer across the instrument team when required.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
HND degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical/Electronics, Automation & Control, or related field. A bachelor’s degree in related field is an added advantage.
Experience
- 5–8 years’ experience in instrumentation and control maintenance or operations.
- Demonstrated expertise with Emerson DELTAV, including operations and maintenance (must be strong hands-on)
Technical Skills
- Strong skills in process control systems and automation.
- Proficiency in DELTAV DCS hardware/software, including troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, and control narratives.
- Good understanding of control valves, positioners, transmitters, and analyzers.
- Strong fault-finding and analytical skills.
