What’s the role

  • This position offers the opportunity as part of the integrated Nigeria Development, Subsurface & Wells organization, to contribute to lifecycle Hydrocarbon Maturation from Near Field Exploration to Front End development and Execution, supporting a diverse portfolio covering Deep Water Offshore assets.
  • This role reports to the Geophysics/QI Lead in the Front-End Development and Portfolio Team and is part of a team of professionals conducting a wide range of high quality, business focused, technology-driven projects for the SNEPCO DW projects and assets. The work scope includes but is not limited to supporting subsurface teams to deliver on key OP maturation milestones through timely delivery of high-quality seismic data and QI interpretation.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the team to deliver on key projects milestones (DG1 to DG3) and WRFM activities.
  • Responsible for the analysis and integration of all relevant Geophysical information extracted from a variety of data types (seismic, well logs, Geology, Production.) as input to constructing robust subsurface static and dynamic models covering range of geological scenarios
  • Undertake high-end Geophysics/QI projects involving depth conversion, seismic data conditioning, muti stack Deterministic & Probabilistic seismic inversion, modelling and AVO analysis, 4D interpretation and analysis, DHI de-risking, utilizing experience and networking with internal / global expertise to ensure timely delivery, and defend fidelity of output
  • Work with Production Seismologist, exploration geoscientist and Reservoir Engineers (RE) to ensure reservoir horizons, time/depth conversions, amplitude analysis, inversion products, and 4D results are generally consistent with geologic/RE data and concepts
  • Ensure geophysics-related uncertainties are clearly defined, support static modelers and Reservoir Engineers in quantifying impact of seismic uncertainties on recoverable volumes and generation of realistic production forecasts, and work with Well Engineers to plan / optimize well paths
  • Drive Geophysics discipline improvement initiatives and standards – development of workflows to automate processes and improve efficiency

What you bring

  • Minimum of Bachelors’ degree in Geophysics or related Geoscience discipline
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with demonstrated skill-level competency in quantitative seismic interpretation
  • Ability to manage projects and interfaces through virtual working practices is a critical skill
  • Recognized for seeking discipline integration, in combination with pursuit of discipline excellence. Good knowledge and understanding of other sub-surface disciplines and ORS
  • Good understanding of subsurface uncertainties, risks and technical issues associated with sub-surface and surface development opportunities including good understanding of other Petroleum Engineering disciplines (Petro Physics, Reservoir Engineering, Production Technology, Exploration prospect Evaluation)
  • Ability to communicate results / challenges of work clearly and champion to address earlier key findings from work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in natural teams and, influence and inspire are essential
  • Good knowledge and understanding of project and asset teams and their seismic data needs
  • Proficient with Quantitative Interpretation software (Petrel, Jason. HR etc.)
