1. Job Title: Geomechanics Engineer

Job Summary

  • As a Real-Time (RT) Geomechanics Engineer, you will serve as a key interface between our onsite teams and our customers. 
  • You will lead crews to ensure equipment and services are deployed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.

2. Job Title: Lead Applications Engineer – Drilling and Completion Fluids (DCF)

  • As a Lead Applications Engineer, you will deliver flawless execution through involvement in pre-planning, job execution, and post-job analysis.
  • This position works seamlessly together with the Service Delivery Coordinators and other resources across organizational boundaries.
  • To ensure all aspects and constraints of the applications are understood and have been considered.

As a Lead Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance with Baker Hughes internal Job Cycle processes.
  • Working with the assigned Service Delivery Coordinator/Salesperson to understand the client’s well construction or production objectives as well as the commercial terms for Baker Hughes (i.e., outcome-based contract, line-item contract etc.).
  • Performing offset job analysis and product/service specific engineering modelling calculations to understand application hazards and incident potential.
  • Working together with all disciplines and stakeholders to ensure all aspects and constraints o the application and suggested products/services has been considered.
  • Designing a job program, including risk mitigation plans and contingency plans, that can meet the client’s objective and maximize revenue potential and ensure future job assignments for Baker Hughes.
  • Working with the Service Delivery Coordinator/Salesperson to ensure any risk of not meeting the client’s objective is communicated to the client using the appropriate channels/processes for the respective client.
  • Accurately documenting any calculations/simulations/plan revision and/or changes during the project cycles for visibility to dependent teams and audit purposes.
  • Providing on-demand support in accordance with product portfolio or on-call schedule for job execution.
  • Comparing job as-planned versus job as-executed, document any lessons learned and develop recommendations for further improvements to procedures to ensure continuous improvement takes place.
  • Working on Field Incidents related to products/services.
  • Participating in Incident Investigations when required, ensuring the end-to-end process is considered, (including job planning, preparation, and execution), when determining incident root cause(s) alongside appropriate corrective actions.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering. Other fields might be considered, if the relevant 12+ years of Drilling and Completions and Mud plant experiences are existent.
  • Have 12+ years of experience in Drilling and Completion Fluids operations with additional experience as Operations coordinator or Service Delivery Coordinator and Mud Plant Operations.
  • Have relevant experience in the field application of High-Performance Water Based Fluids as well as oil-based and specialty systems.
  • Have relevant experience in the field application of Low ECD, flat rheology systems.
  • Have experience and comfort with client continuous daily interactions.
  • Have the ability to travel (potential for travel to rig sites, customer facilities, meetings, training, etc.).
  • Have the ability to be on call outside of normal business hours.
  • Have excellent leadership, interpersonal, influencing and planning skills.
  • Have good overall understanding of drilling and completion operations, as well as hydraulics and well control.
  • Have completed Drilling Fluids Academy aka “mud school” (at least 6-8 week duration, depending on the program).
  • Must have completed NYSC.
