Eligibility Requirements
- Citizenship:
- Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth.
- Age Limits:
- Categories requiring only school certificates: 18–22 years by December 31, 2024.
- Categories requiring higher qualifications (e.g., OND, NCE, or Registered Nurse): 18–26 years by the same date.
- Marital Status:
- Applicants must be unmarried.
- Physical and Medical Standards:
- Minimum height: 1.69m for males and 1.65m for females.
- Applicants must be free from:
- Sight and ear problems.
- Communicable diseases.
- Mental health issues or physical disabilities.
- Tattoos or speech impediments like stammering.
- Criminal Record:
- Must have no prior convictions by a court of law.
Educational and Professional Qualifications
Applicants must possess at least one of the following:
- West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) with a maximum of two sittings, not older than six years.
- General Certificate of Education (GCE) O-Level.
- National Examination Council (NECO).
- National Business and Technical Examinations (NABTEB).
- Ordinary National Diploma (OND).
- Trade certifications for specific categories.
- Primary school leaving certificate (to be presented during the interview).
Additional Notes:
- Higher qualifications than OND/NCE (e.g., HND, B.Sc.) are not accepted.
- Candidates must provide their National Identification Number (NIN).
Disqualification Criteria
- Submission of forged documents or impersonation will lead to disqualification and possible legal action.
- Certificates not declared during recruitment will not be accepted later for advancements or changes in department.
Categories and Educational Requirements
The recruitment spans multiple categories, each with specific qualifications. Below are highlights:
- Technical and Engineering:
- Marine Engineer Artificers (A1), Weapon Electrical Artificers (A2), Aircraft Engineers (A3, A4), Shipwrights (A5).
- Minimum Qualification: 5 SSCE credits (including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry). OND or Diploma for added advantage.
- Mechanical and Craftsmanship:
- Marine Engineer Mechanics (B1), Automobile Mechanics (B3), Welders (B4).
- Minimum Qualification: 5 SSCE credits or relevant trade certificates.
- Communications and IT:
- IT Technicians (C2), Seamen (D1), Survey Recorders (D2).
- Minimum Qualification: OND Lower Credit in relevant fields for IT; 5 SSCE credits for Seamen.
- Healthcare:
- Medical Assistants (F1), Health Technicians (F2), Nurses (K).
- Minimum Qualification: OND or professional qualification for technicians; SSCE with RN/RM for nurses.
- Specialist Roles:
- Sportsmen/Women (D3): Proven sports talent.
- Drivers/Mechanics (H): Valid driver’s license, apprenticeship certificate.
- Bandsmen (G): Musical proficiency with SSCE qualification.
Key Dates
- Recruitment Aptitude Test: Scheduled for January 18, 2025.
- Successful candidates will undergo basic military training and, upon completion, will be enlisted as Ordinary Seaman.
