Job Title: Graduate Trainee – Project Engineer

Job Description

  • The Graduate Trainee will undergo structured training and hands-on exposure across various departments of Prudence Golden Engineering Service Limited, including Calibration & Certification, Technical Operations, Business Development, HSE, and Administration.
  • The role is designed to build technical competence, professional workplace behaviour, and an understanding of PGESL’s processes, service standards, and client engagement expectations, especially within the oil & gas and power sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist calibration engineers and technicians with equipment calibration, certification, and documentation.
  • Support field service operations, including tool preparation, logistics coordination, and on-site reporting.
  • Participate in data entry, verification of calibration certificates, and use of PGESL’s digital documentation platforms.
  • Engage in research to identify potential clients and support business development initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing quotes, technical proposals, service reports, and client correspondence.
  • Attend technical, safety, and administrative trainings as assigned.
  • Shadow senior staff during client meetings, technical evaluations, and project execution.
  • Support store/asset management functions, including equipment tagging, inventory updates, and condition checks.
  • Participate in internal audits, compliance checks, and QMS-related tasks.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors to support departmental operations.

Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Good communication and report-writing skills.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation or related).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to technical tasks.
  • Attention to detail, especially in documentation.
  • Ability to work under supervision and as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to participate in fieldwork, sometimes in challenging environments.

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum of B.Eng, B.Tech, B.Sc or HND in:
    • Electrical/Electronic Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Instrumentation & Control
    • Industrial Physics
    • Or any closely related technical field.
  • NYSC must be completed, or the candidate must have an exemption letter.

Experience:

  • 0–2 years post-NYSC experience.
  • Prior internship experience in engineering services, calibration, or oil & gas environment is an added advantage but not mandatory.
  • NYSC Candidate that are flexible can apply

Other Requirements:

  • Must be willing to travel for field assignments when required.
  • Must be disciplined, punctual, and willing to follow company policies.
  • Must demonstrate integrity, accountability, and a strong desire to build a long-term career in engineering services.
  • Must be proactive in learning and open to constructive feedback.
  • Residence within Port Harcourt or willingness to relocate is an advantage.

Remuneration

  • Monthly stipend/salary (typically NGN 80,000 – N150,000 per month depending on skill level and performance during onboarding).
  • Field allowance and timesheet benefits when deployed for field operations.
