About PTDF Scholarships

The responsibility of developing indigenous human capacity and technology to cater to the oil and gas industry in Nigeria falls under the purview of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), an agency of the Nigerian Federal Government. In line with its mandate, PTDF offers scholarships to Nigerian students who intend to undertake postgraduate studies in the oil and gas sector.

Applications for the PTDF Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme for Nigerian Students are currently being accepted for the 2023 academic session. The scholarship provides financial support to Nigerian students pursuing Masters or PhD degrees at any of the 16 PTDF partner universities situated across the globe.

The scholarship is open to Nigerian students who have completed their undergraduate studies and are looking to pursue a postgraduate degree in any of the following fields: Geosciences, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials/Corrosion Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Environmental Technology.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

• Possess five (5) O-level credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

• Have a minimum of Second Class Upper Division (2:1) in their first degree.

• Have completed their NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) program.

• Have gained admission into any of the PTDF partner universities for the relevant program of study.

• Must be computer literate.

Scholarship Application Requirements

To apply for the scholarship, interested applicants must submit relevant documents, including:

• Recent Passport Photograph

• WAEC/SSCE/GCE/NECO results and the PINs on the application form to enable PTDF to view the O’level results on the relevant website.

• First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result

• NYSC discharge certificate

• Local Government Identification Letter

• National Identity Number (NIN) and verification will be required (NIMC verification charges apply) before applying for the scholarship.

• Master’s Degree Certificate (for PhD Applicants only)

• Evidence of membership in professional associations

Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview, after which successful candidates will be notified.
