Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for Schwarzman Scholars are as follows:
- Must have an undergraduate degree: Applicants must either possess an undergraduate degree or be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and be expected to complete all degree requirements by August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year. There are no restrictions on the field of study, but applicants need to explain how participating in Schwarzman Scholars will contribute to their leadership development within their chosen field.
- Must be 18–28 years of age: Candidates must be at least 18 years old but not exceed 28 years old as of August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year. This requirement applies to the Class of 2024–2025, with August 1, 2024, as the reference date.
- Must be proficient in the English language: Applicants must demonstrate strong English language skills since all instruction at Schwarzman Scholars is conducted in English. If English is not the applicant’s native language, they need to submit official scores from an English proficiency test. However, this requirement is waived for candidates who completed their undergraduate studies in an English-medium institution for at least two years or have pursued a Master’s degree or higher in English for two or more years. Acceptable tests include the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) with a minimum score of 100, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 7, or the Cambridge English exams (Advanced/C1 or Proficiency/C2) with a minimum score of 185.
