Job Summary
The Nigerian Army invites applications from qualified Nigerians for commission as Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) officers. This opportunity is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who meet the eligibility requirements.
Successful candidates will undergo military training and be commissioned as officers to serve in Combat Arms (Infantry, Armour) and Combat Support Arms (Artillery, Engineers, Signals, Intelligence).

To qualify for SSC 49/2026, applicants must:
- Be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
- Be 23–27 years old by January 2026.
- Be medically, mentally, and physically fit to Nigerian Army standards.
- Have a minimum of Second Class Lower (degree) or Lower Credit (HND) in any discipline from an accredited institution (not earlier than 2015).
- Possess NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
- Have no criminal conviction or disciplinary record.
- Meet the minimum height requirement: 1.68m (male), 1.65m (female).
- Provide two referees and valid attestation letters.
- Present original educational certificates and valid birth and state of origin certificates.
- Service personnel must have served at least five years and be endorsed by their Commanding Officer/Commander.
Conditions of Service
- Commission tenure: 15 years (10 active + 5 renewable years).
- Graduates of the training program are commissioned as Second Lieutenants.
- Conversion to Regular Combatant Commission is possible, subject to vacancy and criteria.
- All candidates must sign the official acceptance of service terms before commissioning.
