Meet Dr. Sankar M Sasidharan and His Research Program
Dr. Sankar M Sasidharan (also referred to as Sankar M S) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture at Mississippi State University. His expertise centers on aquatic biogeochemistry, water quality monitoring, ecosystem health, sediment-water interactions, and dissolved organic matter dynamics, with clear applications to aquaculture.
Dr. Sasidharan earned his Ph.D. in Biogeochemistry from Mississippi State University and his M.S. in Aqueous Geochemistry from Texas Tech University. He maintains an active publication record in leading journals on topics including coastal water quality responses to hydrologic events, trace element and nutrient dynamics, land-use impacts on dissolved organic matter in lakes, and coastal acidification. His work bridges fundamental science and applied aquaculture challenges. Students in his group benefit from his experience at the Thad Cochran National Warmwater Aquaculture Center and strong connections across the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station (MAFES) and Delta Research and Extension Center.
What You Will Do and Skills You Will Develop
As a PhD student, you will:
