Who Can Apply for the Martingale Scholarship 2027
This is not an open international scholarship for every nationality. Eligibility is tightly defined, and applicants are assessed on financial need, academic potential, and motivation for research.
To be eligible for 2027, you must:
- Have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a First or Upper-Second Class degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
- Be able to start a Masters or PhD at a UK university from September 2027

How to Apply: The Three-Stage Process
Do not apply straight to a university and hope Martingale funding follows. The first move is the Foundation application.
Stage 1: Apply to Martingale
Complete the online application form. You will need:

How to Write a Stronger Application
Martingale is looking for more than a clean transcript. Use the form to show three things clearly.
First, academic readiness. Name the areas of mathematics or AI that actually hold your attention. Part III at Cambridge, an Oxford DPhil, or a machine learning MSc at UCL are different intellectual bets. Show that you understand the difference.
Second, research motivation. Why postgraduate study, and why now? A good answer is specific: a problem you want to work on, a method you want to master, a question your undergraduate project left unfinished.
Third, financial context without apology. The programme exists because money is a barrier. Give the evidence they ask for and keep the focus on what you will do with the opportunity.
